ALIEN EARTH

The decent was perfect, the landing gear of the shuttle touched down gently on the surface of the planet. Inside the pilots did their post flight checks before stepping away from the cockpit to don their atmospheric suits. Once done they opened the hatch and went outside.

The sky was a deep azure blue, the trees stretched out uninterrupted for hundreds of miles in each direction. Small areas of grey were visible in amongst the foliage in places, if you took some binoculars you would see ruined buildings, grey and stark jutting out of the canopy.

“Let’s set up the survey equipment to make sure this place is habitable then we can get off this place”
“It’s beautiful man, why would you want to leave, this is paradise”
“Do you not know anything about this place? We are probably the first humans to step foot here for 500 years”.
“No, never really read up on it before”.
“When it was known by it previous name it was a much different place”.
“How do you know?”
“Because I read my history”.
“What settings should we set the environmental equipment to to check for?”
“Radiation”
His colleague looked at him with some concern
“no need to worry, it’s probably just trace elements, you really should listen in those briefings”.
He shrugged “what was this place called anyway?”
“Earth.”

Do you get anything from this picture/post? Is it just a bit meh for you or do you find something rich and interesting in it? Please share your thoughts either way.
…Moi

    1. Hi Jaded, hope you are well? It does indeed, although the way things are going it feels like it may all go wrong in decades rather than centuries.

lend me your thoughts
